We are located at Shansumako Farm. We specialize in dogs under 40 pounds who are shy or need more training before they can live with a family. We love older dogs of any size who get along well with other dogs. We also like hospice dogs, although they usually like it on our farm and stay for a while. We usually take in dogs from shelters that are on the euthanasia list. We rely on shelter volunteers to notice the dogs we can help and ask us to take them. Occasionally we take owner surrenders, but only if they are spayed or neutered and current on their shots. We do not have puppies and we cannot help dog aggressive dogs. In the near future we will have a full agility course, fenced in traing yard for off leash work and exercise, and a lurecoursing track. We can use both experienced and inexperienced volunteers to help to socialize our dogs. Volunteer duties include leash walking, reinforcing training, bathing, and play. We assign volunteers specific dogs to work with based on the volunteer's preferences. Then the volunteer can come regularly to work with his or her dogs.
